Open Beta Dates, Platforms, and Preload Details
Nova Forge Studios has confirmed that *Echoes of Andromeda* will enter open beta on September 12 at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET / 18:00 BST. The test runs until September 26, giving players two full weeks to explore the opening star system, test weapon balance, and stress live servers. Access will be free on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. No pre-order or paid subscription is required, though players must create or link a Nova Forge account before matchmaking. Preload begins September 10 at 9:00 a.m. PT. The download is expected to be approximately 38 GB on PC, 31 GB on PS5, and 29 GB on Xbox Series X|S, with a small day-one patch planned for all platforms. Servers will be divided into North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and South America, with matchmaking prioritizing low ping while still allowing cross-region party invites. Nova Forge says the beta is not a simple demo: it will use live matchmaking, persistent progression, weekly events, and in-game surveys to simulate launch conditions. Scheduled maintenance is set for September 17 and September 24, each lasting roughly three hours. The studio warned that queue times may spike during the first 24 hours, especially in South America and Asia-Pacific, as server capacity is gradually scaled. Players who watch two hours of partnered Twitch streams will also earn the “Signal Flare” weapon charm. Importantly, the open beta build is not final. Visual effects, map layouts, weapon tuning, and user interface elements may change before release. A full launch roadmap will be published after the beta ends, and feedback from the test will directly shape the final balance pass.
Zero-G Combat, Orbital Maps, and Exo-Suit Classes
The open beta will feature three primary modes: Breach, Salvage, and Dominion. Breach is a 6v6 attack-and-defend mode set aboard a derelict carrier, where attackers must plant a data spike in three sequential compartments while defenders rotate through zero-gravity corridors and airlocks. Salvage is a four-player cooperative mode that sends squads into an asteroid mining station to recover black-box fragments before a radiation storm arrives. Dominion is a 12v12 objective mode on orbital battlefields, with capture points that alter gravity, oxygen levels, and shield regeneration. Four exo-suit classes will be playable: Vanguard, a frontline assault class with a shoulder-mounted rail pistol; Wraith, a stealth class that can cloak for short bursts; Engineer, a support class that deploys turrets and repair drones; and Seer, a recon class with wall-piercing pulse scans. Each class has a unique traversal ability. Vanguard can boost-dash, Wraith can tether to surfaces, Engineer can place zip lines, and Seer can briefly glide across gaps. Weapons include kinetic rifles, plasma shotguns, arc carbines, and smart pistols, all of which can be modified with optics, grips, magazines, and ammo types. The beta map pool includes “Helios Station,” “Cinder Belt,” and “The Trench,” each designed around verticality, low-gravity flanks, and environmental hazards such as decompression zones and solar flares. A limited-time mode called “Blackout” will appear during the second week, disabling radar and reducing oxygen recovery. Nova Forge says the goal is to make movement feel deliberate rather than floaty, so players must manage momentum, cover, oxygen, and positioning instead of simply sprinting into every fight. Class synergies will matter, especially when a Wraith marks targets for a Vanguard breach or an Engineer keeps a Seer’s scanning route supplied with repair drones.

Crossplay, Progression, and Beta Rewards
Crossplay and cross-progression are central to the open beta. Players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S can party up together, and matchmaking will pool controller and mouse-and-keyboard users separately by default, with an option to opt into mixed-input lobbies. Cross-progression will sync account level, weapon unlocks, cosmetic rewards, and battle pass progress across platforms, provided players link their Nova Forge account. Beta progress will not carry over entirely to launch, but several rewards will. Anyone who reaches account level 10 will receive the “First Contact” player banner, the “Prototype” weapon charm, and a permanent XP boost for the first 20 levels at launch. Players who complete at least five matches in each of the three main modes will unlock the “Orbital Veteran” exo-suit skin. A weekly community challenge will also track total matches played across all platforms; if the community reaches 10 million matches during the beta, every participant will receive a launch-day loot cache. Nova Forge has confirmed that no beta rewards are pay-to-win and that all gameplay-affecting items are earned through play. The studio also plans to run an in-game survey during the final three days, asking players to rate map flow, weapon balance, class roles, matchmaking speed, and server stability. Results will be published in a post-beta report. Anti-cheat will be active from day one, and players can report suspected cheaters directly from the scoreboard. Party sizes are capped at six for Breach and Dominion, while Salvage supports four-player squads. Nova Forge says crossplay can be disabled in the settings menu, but cross-progression requires an account link and cannot be turned off once enabled.
PC Requirements, Console Performance, and Community Feedback
For PC players, minimum specs target 1080p at 30 FPS on low settings: Windows 10 64-bit, Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB or AMD RX 580 8GB, and 40 GB SSD space. Recommended specs aim for 1080p at 60 FPS on high: Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti or AMD RX 6700 XT, and a 40 GB SSD. For 1440p at 120 FPS, Nova Forge suggests an RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT and a modern 8-core CPU. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, the beta offers Performance and Quality modes. Performance mode targets 120 FPS at dynamic 1440p with reduced effects; Quality mode targets 60 FPS at 4K with ray-traced reflections and higher particle density. Xbox Series S will run at 1080p and 60 FPS in Performance mode, with no ray tracing. The studio has set up a dedicated feedback portal, official Discord channels, and weekly developer livestreams during the beta. Known issues include occasional crashes when alt-tabbing on PC, a rare PS5 party chat bug, and controller dead-zone inconsistencies. Nova Forge says it will post daily hotfix notes and a full launch roadmap after the beta ends. Accessibility options include subtitle sizing, colorblind modes, toggleable sprint, hold-to-aim alternatives, and full controller remapping. The open beta is free, but the full game will be premium priced at $69.99, with no loot boxes and a cosmetic-only store. Players who participate in the beta will also receive a survey badge on their profile, marking them as early testers when *Echoes of Andromeda* launches later this year.
